Strike!

Ugh.

So I may have shared this before, but my usual morning ritual consists of:

5:35 Wake up
5:45 Head to the bus stop
6:10 Bus takes me to subway station
6:30 Subway station takes me to gym
6:45 Quick workout
7:30 Board subway again
8:15 Arrive at work

So as usual, I get to the subway station at 6:10 or thereabouts and notice that the subway doors are locked. Huh? Turns out there's a strike by the Toronto Transit Commission (wait, they're not calling it a strike; guess it depends on whether you're listening to the unions or not), but bottom line, there's no service.

Usually, there are tons of taxis waiting near the subway station, but none today. It took me another half-hour to flag one down (and that was with someone else who was headed the same way). Needless to say, missed out on the workout and I'm lucky to be at work at all right now. Others are still stranded all over the city.

I understand that there are work stoppages from time to time - shit happens. This isn't the first TTC strike I've lived through. But usually, there's at least SOME advance notice. There was nothing today.

To reiterate - ugh.

My commute is much simpler.

5:25 am - wake up
5:30 am - leave house
5:30:30 am - arrive at work

Yeah... um, shut up.

It is now 8:45 or thereabouts -- just got home. Yes, the subway is now running. Except for my extension that is.
