Raw Thoughts

Wow - how long has it been when there's been more than one thing on Raw I've wanted to comment on?

-- I realize this is a Canada-only issue, but why on earth does Raw start at 9:15 p.m. these days? In other words, what's with the 15 minute infomercial/recap we're subjected to on The Score? Honestly - is it helpful to anyone to know what, say, Carlito did last week on Raw? It's not as though they won't recap it ANYWAYS later in the show....

-- If WWE is smart, they'll have Edge cash in his Money In The Bank shot this week on SmackDown and defeat either Taker or Batista for the title. Hell, it's not as though they haven't done the EXACT same thing with the EXACT same wrestler before -- it makes them look consistent, even if the move was likely arranged because of Kennedy's injury. Regardless, SmackDown needs a main event heel BADLY. Edge is probably the only person that would make me watch SmackDown again on a regular basis. Plus with Taker and Kennedy on the shelf for the next little while (and is King Booker injured as well? Can't recall), Edge coming aboard would make perfect, perfect sense. Plus... you could main event SD with a Batista-Edge feud for a while (which someone, I can't remember who) suggested as a great little WrestleMania matchup earlier this year. THEN.... you have Edge-Taker and Edge-Kennedy feuds once they heal up.

--What the fuck was up with that Cryme Tyme sketch? Did they REALLY need to waste time on that?

-- I'm getting sick of people knocking Great Khali. Yes, he can't wrestle worth a lick, but so what? He's been booked TREMENDOUSLY, and tonight was no exception. Big John Studd, Kamala and dozens of other "giants" were just as untalented as Khali, yet they're looked at as being more talented in retrospect. Why? For the past few months, they've booked Khali as unstoppable, which actually makes me look forward to Cena-Khali at Judgment Day. Fans WILL rally behind Cena when he's in a situation like this, plus its a classic David vs Goliath story. Crazy booking concept, I know.

-- Along the same lines, Shawn Michaels was his usual brilliant self here, making Khali look like a million bucks.

Overall, a pretty interesting show that makes me optimistic that at least ONE of the three WWE brands might be starting to get it right again...
