Book Review - From A Buick 8
I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King's, though I do find myself reading his books from time to time. I just finished re-reading Different Seasons, because it has Shawshank Redemption as one of its sections), and decided on a whim I want to read one of his more recent works. I picked up this one, and suprisingly, one of the characters has the same last name as me (which is about as close as I'm going to get to revealing my real name to y'all).
Anyways, this was a great read. It was creepy and eerie, though it never really wandered it horror territory. For the uninitiated, the book centers around an odd vintage car that some Pennsylvania cops find, unattended, at a gas station in the '70s. The car has some strange attributes (including not being able to actually drive) and is locked up in a storage shed over the next several decades. The car shows some signs of life from time to time, and the descriptions here are just magnificent.
I definitely enjoyed the twist at the end as well. This is one I'd recommend picking up, whether you're traditionally a King fan or not.
